SIPB/NetBSD/Athena is no longer being maintained, and the most
recent release is based on a roughly 3-year-old version of NetBSD.
My understanding is that people who want a personal Athena
workstation are being advised to use IS/Linux/Athena, which is
being actively mainteined; see http://www.mit.edu/~linux/
There continues to be an active NetBSD community at MIT; many
serious hackers consider it a superior platform for a variety of
applications. It's just that nobody in the NetBSD community has
the (really quite significant) time to devote to maintaining
Athena for NetBSD. If you're interested in NetBSD per se, there
are many people, especially around the SIPB, who share that
interest. You may also find it useful to subscribe to the
low-traffic zephyr class, -c netbsd.
