the netbsd sources are in /afs/dev/project/sipb/netbsd/. netbsd-athena
is currently based on 1.3.2, but it will soon move to 1.3.3 (or perhaps
1.3.4). you'll probably want to build a kernel from the 1.3.3 sources,
which contain some improvements over 1.3.2.
you can find instructions on building a custom kernel in
/mit/netbsd/doc/other/netbsd-admin.{dvi,ps}
