I've been in contact with the vendor's tech support and they are
trying to see if there is a way to fix this...they did say that one
way this can come up is if the port used in the Xess binary to contact
the license server mismatches the one the license daemon is using. This
is the number at the end of each SERVER line in the license file. I don't
see how this could be happening in your case unless you are somehow using
a copy of the license file with a different port number than the one we
use, 1701, though. I presume you are using Xess as installed in the xess_v4.0
locker on Athena (as opposed to a local copy on your machine), right?
Also, can you ping ziggy.mit.edu from your machine?
