becoming root

When I try to become root of my new NetBSD machine, after telneting into
it, I get the following error message:
athena% su
su: you are not in the correct group to su root.
How do I add myself to whatever group is capable of becoming root. If this
kind of info is available in some online manual, I'd be grateful if someone
could point me at the URL.
