Hello,
because SSH is a wonderful tool to protect arbitrary TCP traffic we were
looking for a solution to protect UDP-based RPC traffic by forwarding
datagrams via an SSH channel.
Therefore we have written a prototype of an RPC proxy server and an RPC proxy
client for SunOS. You can find the sources and some info on our FTP server:
ftp://ftp.tu-chemnitz.de/pub/Local/informatik/sec_rpc/
It is thought as starting point and not as a production tool.
In our opinion NIS is the primary service which could benefit from this
solution.
Holger
