Surge in list traffic, pending removal of linux-alert-digest.

As most of you have probably noticed, there has been a sudden surge in
linux-security list traffic--primarily related to the telnetd/login
hole. If you find that you're getting more messages than you want from
this list, you may want to unsubscribe from the linux-security list and
subscribe yourself to the linux-alert-digest list. (You will then get
all the traffic in summary/digest messages, delayed until either 500
lines of posts have built up or until one week has passed since the
first post in the digest, whichever occurs first.)
I am, for the most part, just forwarding on posts related to
telnetd/login due to there being so many of them and my not having time
to analyze them for correctness (especially in the cases of code
patches, which I am forwarding on untested and largely unread). If you
find problems with a patch, please let me know and I will forward it on
to the list.
As for the linux-alert-digest list, I have decided that it is pretty
much useless; there are very few linux-alert posts, so subscribers to
linux-alert-digest wind up getting the same number of messages as
linux-alert subscribers--only the messages (usually important ones!)
are delayed by one week. This being the case, I plan on removing the
linux-alert-digest list from the server and moving all of its
subscribers over to the linux-alert list. I will pass word via all
lists once this is done. (I may also make some sort of c.o.l.announce
post.) I plan on doing this sometime in November (hopefully).
