hey folks,
i have already posted this to linux-x11 and got absolutely no response
so please pardon me if you have already read this. although, at
first glance this appears only to be an X related post if you think about
it ( and considering the relative weakness of MIT-MAGIC-COOKIE-1 )
i think youll agree that it is fairly relevant to both security and
administration under linux...
has anyone ever tried to recompile the Xserver under Xfree86 to
support XDM-AUTHORIZATION-1 ??? i have already recompiled libXdmcp
with Wraphelp.c ( and also xdm ) but i have had a bit of difficulty
finding a "server-only" package ( itll need to be 3.1 unless 3.1.1
is completely backwards compatible ) other than the one on ftp.cdrom.com
where the makefiles are actually correct ( using xmkmf doesnt work either
on the Imakes for obvious reasons )... any ideas ( besides recompiling the
entire xc package... i am aware that this is a solution ;P ) and all
words of wisdom would be appreciated...
cu,
m.
