Hi,
I scanned the hypermail archive; no one seems
to have discussed Phrack in any way.
Phrack is a magazine devoted to phone freaking &
computer hacking. The cheif editor lives here
in Austin, TX; my internet provider is the home
for the publication.
The publication includes source code for a
variety of appearently nasty little programs.
I scanned the code; some look silly, some look
like they may be legitametely dangerous. Most
won't do anything in and of themselves, but are
rather tools (e.g. software packet sniffers).
Has anybody gone over these to see just what
sort of danger they present to Linux? Are these
considered to be a non-issue, because they are
"well-known"?
To get to them, see http://fc.net/phrack.html
This will point to 47 issues on-line, and another
pile of back-issues that are ftp'able. Somewhere
in the middle, past the letters to the editor,
and general articles, are entire sections (100K+)
devoted to source code.
Please cc me on replies ... I am not a regular
subscriber, although I do check out the hypermail
archives.
