For parallel SCSI, DT transfers are protected by CRC-32 affording
better protection. But, even with this protection, it is not recommended
to insert or remove a parallel SCSI device/controller when data is being
transferred on the SCSI bus. SPI3 Annex D addresses some different
"controlled" cases of insertion and removal of SCSI devices. The latest
draft is at:

Does anyone know, which if any, parallel SCSI controllers allow the
DT option to be used with transfer periods greater than 9? It is required
for 9, but if it can also be used with slower transfer periods, then a
slower "clock" rate could be used to achieve a higher effective data rate
with the benefit of CRC-32.
