Hi!
I had the same problem with the IBM DFMS series drive. (Where it worked
under NT and not under Linux). I dug through the IBM archives - and found a
FAQ that basically said that if you want our drive to act like other SCSI
drives disable the "T.I. Sync Negotiations". Worked for me...

P.S. once you get it working, would you mind sending me bonnie results
for this combo of drive and controller? (Please indicate partition block
size) Thanx in advance...
