Yes.
I can't comment on why something works. I can only tell you what is right
and what isn't :)

no difference, unless the fuse on the host adapter is bad, e.g.

So, either they use a bus isolator chip (allowing to run the buses at LVD
and SE voltages at the same time), or they just talk about cables, and
that's why Linux shows them on the same bus, and he is right.
