Hi all,
I hope that you can help me.. I'm new on this list.
I use kernel 2.3.99-pre6 on an I386 platform with SCSI of course...
The SCSI driver won't recognise my Plextor CDROM as an mmc drive...
This is what the kernel says:
scsi0 : sym53c8xx - version 1.5m
scsi : 1 host.
Vendor: PLEXTOR Model: CD-ROM PX-40TS Rev: 1.11
Type: CD-ROM ANSI SCSI revision: 02
Detected scsi CD-ROM sr0 at scsi0, channel 0, id 0, lun 0
Vendor: MATSHITA Model: CD-R CW-7502 Rev: 4.17
Type: CD-ROM ANSI SCSI revision: 02
Detected scsi CD-ROM sr1 at scsi0, channel 0, id 4, lun 0
Vendor: IOMEGA Model: ZIP 100 Rev: J.03
Type: Direct-Access ANSI SCSI revision: 02
Detected scsi removable disk sda at scsi0, channel 0, id 5, lun 0
scsi : detected 2 SCSI cdroms 1 SCSI disk total.
sym53c810a-0-<0,*>: FAST-10 SCSI 10.0 MB/s (100 ns, offset 8)
Uniform CD-ROM driver Revision: 3.07
sym53c810a-0-<4,*>: FAST-10 SCSI 10.0 MB/s (100 ns, offset 8)
sr1: scsi3-mmc drive: 8x/8x writer xa/form2 cdda tray
sym53c810a-0-<5,*>: target did not report SYNC.
SCSI device sda: hdwr sector= 512 bytes. Sectors= 196608 [96 MB] [0.1 GB]
sda: Write Protect is off
sda: sda4
My writer is known as a mmc drive and can play videocd's. Oh .. the player
I use is MTV 1.1.1.0.
The plextor won't... but via a trick (vcdread) it will.....
If I recompile vcdread for my kernel... it doesn't work anymore.....
What has changed in the SCSI drivers, how can I force my plextor cdrom to be
a mmc drive....?
I hope that someone on this list can give some answers to this weird problem.
Greetings,
Nick Brok
