I am appealing for help as a Newbie who is fast becoming
a guru(not my intent) on "booting and looking for a CDROM".

Apparently this controller TMC1610MEX does not have a bios.
If so it is hidden real well. I simply can't get Linux at
bootup to find and detect it.

This comes on a Micron P5-90 with Plextor 4x CD drives.
Others have said they have the same problem.

I am installing and using Slackware 96. Linux 2.0
I have checked the cables and termination. Addressing and
plugging. Nothing helps.

Cd works fine with dos and windows.

Any clues for this bumbling clown. I am an ex-mainframe
programmer who has been fooling with PC's since
Kim 1, ALtair and the first Radio Shack 100. I owned the
first IBMPC but this is my first goaround with Linux.

Regards, Lazarus Qadmon
