I'm having similar trouble with a DEC hard disk attached to an AMD 53C974
controller. The drive seems to be working, and the controller's BIOS scan
picks it up, but when the kernel boots it gets completely ignored.
I tried it on my Alpha (with an NCR810 host) and it seemed fine. Bizarre.
