Hi there,
I see this message every now and then when I use the last partition in my
disk:
Feb 22 12:32:14 localhost kernel: scsi0: MEDIUM ERROR on channel 0, id 2,
lun 0, CDB: Read (10) 00 00 41 93 94 00 00 80 00
Feb 22 12:32:14 localhost kernel: Info fld=0x419406, Current
sd08:07: sense key Medium Error
Feb 22 12:32:14 localhost kernel: Additional sense indicates Unrecovered
read error - recommend reassignment
The machine is an Alpha, with:
Chip NCR53C810, device id 0x1, revision id 0x2
IO port address 0x8000, IRQ number 11
Synchronous period factor 25, max commands per lun 32
Host: scsi0 Channel: 00 Id: 02 Lun: 00
Vendor: Model: DFRSS2F Rev: 4B4B
Type: Direct-Access ANSI SCSI revision: 02
I am going to try a low level format using Michael's Weller utility, does
somebody has a better idea/advice? There are other tools in Linux? My
machine does not have a bios with scsi utilities.
thanks in advance
