kernels: 2.2.14 and 2.2.6
scsi cards: adaptec AHA-1505 isa card and an adaptec AHA-2940 ultra2
jumpers: scsi-id2:off, scsi-id1:off, scsi-id0:off,
		d.c.disable:off, scsi-parity:on, terminator:on,
		term-power:on
used as only device on the scsi bus.

as far as I can tell it is not the controller or drivers or cable, they all
work fine with the seagate drive I have here. but when I try to write to
this device it writes ~200MB to the drive than locks up the machine.
