Hello everyone !!
I hope my message won't something everyone has seen a hundred times
and I've research my problem before posting on this list.
Here is my situation:
I want to install Linux on a COMPAQ Deskpro 5133
This machine is fairly new so I might be the first one to install Linux
on it !!
with an Adaptec AHA2940 SCSI controler !
First problem: COMPAQ installs the PCI services at an address not
recognized by Linux.
I have solved this by using the movepci program provided
by COMPAQ.
The problem with this approach is that I now need to boot
DOS to load that movepci program. (It's added to the config.sys
file and started when booting DOS)
I am therefore required to use Loadlin
Second problem: Linux does not want to see my SCSI hard drive when using
the AHA2940 boot disk !
I call this kernel from loadlin
I have tried 2 kernels the slackware 3.0 aha2940 that is provided
as a bootdisk. And the "Extra kernel in q4"
I would appreciate any help !!
Thanks
Jacques
