Greetings, Linux-SCSI gurus,
As a newbie, this foray into the vodoo-land of SCSI has been
most interesting. Anyhow, I'm reminded of that scene in Apocalypse
Now where Martin Sheen is talking to the soldier at the bridge (with
the grenade launcher) "He's close, man, real close..."
Well, anyway, I went ahead and got the Adaptec aha2742 (single)
and ran the EISA configuration utility to make sure the Adaptec
BIOS was installed and enabled. So far, no problemo.
I'm running Slackware 1.1.59 (maybe I'll upgrade? one thing
at a time!). Here's what I copied off of the screen. I can't
dmesg because the system hangs...

At this point, I can hear the SCSI drive moving. Also, the
/dev/fd0 light is staying on (I don't know why that is).
The SCSI card required that I pull a jumper to disable
floppy disk capability, as that was already being handled
by the IDE internal drive.
Any ideas on what I should do now? My reading of all this
is that the Adaptec BIOS is reading fine, the card is
being recognized, and the disk drive itself is being
recognized. I don't know what this resetting thing is
all about, and I don't know why the floppy drive light
is staying on.
