hi

i am having real bad crashes on my system (total lock ups!) and i
believe they are being caused by a problem with scsi somewhere.

symptoms are the system will lock up hard, no vc change or response from
outside (telnet etc) will register. the scsi light is on when this
happens, and it seems to happen more with heavy disk access.

my system is a 486DX4-100, 8mb ram, 130mb ide on primary, 40mb ide on
secondary, cl5429 vlb graphics card

scsi controller is adaptec 1522 with a 300mb ibm hard drive and a
archive viper tape drive.

i believe the scsi devices are properly terminated and have tried
several combinations.

i first really noticed the crashes under 1.3.35 and 1.3.37 (compiled elf
with a slackware 3.0.0 base install) but they happen when i go back to
1.3.32 (compiled a.out with slackware <3.0.0, gcc 2.6.3).

linux is slackware 3.0.0 elf

does anyone have a solution? or failing that, does anyone have a similar
setup (152x with slackware 3.0.0 running 1.3.37) and can confirm/deny
the problem?

thankyou

james
