Hello,
Some time ago I queried the list about my problems to detect a
NCR53c400a
card (one shipping with old HP 4P scanners).
I haven't been able to make this card work at the moment. I have the
following doubts, concerning the README provided for the g_NCR5380
driver.
Quoting the help text for the driver:
The NCR5380 and NCR53c400 SCSI controllers come in two varieties:
port or memory mapped. You should know what you have. The most
common card, Trantor T130B, uses port mapped mode.
Well. I don't know what I have, because I don't know how to check that.
I'm using port, anyway.
The second doubt is (quoting readme):
If the default configuration does not work for you, you can use the
kernel
command lines (eg using the lilo append command):
ncr53c400=port,irq
I don't know how to find these values. Windows claims its IRQ=5,
IO=x0280,
so I have tried append="nrc53c400a=0x280,5" in lilo, unsuccesfully.
I have also tried the io port that README says is default (0x350), again
unsuccesfully.
In short, how do I know which of the two cards I have (port or memory
mapped), and how do I know my io port?
System information:
Debian 2.1
Kernel 2.2.10
