may be grip, but not necessarily. A few months ago I made some posts
here which flagged a problem with AIC7 and YST4416S. I was puzzled
because I had set up such a configuration before and had it working,
but not using the latest kernel at the time 2.2.10 + 4416S rom.
It was recommended to me that I upgrade to the latest ROM from Yamaha.
The 4416S has been sitting unused ever since, due to other priorities.
Lately, I also saw a note from Alan Cox in 2.2.13 indicating both an
AIC7 fix and a 4416S fix.
Apparently, the AIC7 + 4416S have not had a particularly good track
record on the Mac either...
