Standard answer:
termination is OK, cables are not too long,
memory seems to be OK, never had a signal 11 during gcc compile.
--> I checked everything using the scsi checklist from:
http://sdb.suse.de/sdb/de/html/kfr_15.html
There I also found to set the device configuration to DISABLE "allow disconnect" for slow
devices like a tape. This is some time ago (don't remember exactly) but I think after this
moment I had the "real" problems with destroyed file system.
Now when using the Tekram host adapter with "allow disconnect" enabled also the tape seems to
work fine.
