Jim, I had a similar experience when I tried to used the similar SCSI
controller card on a Pentium clone PC. I use Seagate's ST41080
(8GB) and a PCnet32 ethercard. I used the same version of Linux.
I had followed all recipees, but the kernel failed to detect any SCSI host.
I gave up and change the card with AHA2940 and used AHA2940 bootkernel.
Viva! It works half nicely. Now, I only have to overcome the problem on
monitor (Philips' Briiliance 1409) which shows erratic line when I use
'mc' and many black dots in X-window.
Tell us if there is little luck!
