Hi,
I've modified fwdl, (ftp://globalfilesystem.org/pub/GFS/tools/), to
upgrade the firmware on Yamaha CDRW4416S CD-RW drives. You can find
it at:
http://www.clubi.ie/jakma/fwdl-yam4416s-0.0.1.tar.gz
It's been tested on an Alpha running Linux 2.2.11. It should be
possible to port it to Sun and SGI, but I don't have access to those
systems. The unmodified fwdl low-level files for upgrading Seagate
files for sun are included if anyone wants to try and port my changes
in fwdl-linux.c over.
To build just type make, and run:
./fwdl <path-to-sg-device> <path-to-firmware-file>
The source code should also support other Yamaha cdrw drives by
changing the DEV_OFFSET define, eg the CDR200 should be offset
0x20000. But this is totally untested by me.
regards,
