Many of us had to explicitly set wide off for ID=3/4416 to avoid
kernel panic. Some differences: I am using a brand new 2940UW; I am
using a K6-2/400; I am using Fujitsu 4.5g UW disks also attached to the
2940UW.

Can you post a fix for this cdrecord bug...

The aforementioned K6-2/400 also keeps the buffer nearly 100%, but then
right around the time it displays the message about "fixating", the
SCSI bus gets reset (the resultant CD is not mountable).

Are you saying that you have no other devices on the 2940UW?
