For me, I just compiled pcmcia-3.xx, installed it, connected the cable to my
storage assembly, put in the card, and I could use /dev/s{d,t}{a,b,c,...}.
/proc/scsi/scsi listed all of the devices, I could mount filesystems built on
my workstation, and write DAT tapes. Note because of another screwy pcmcia
card (3com 3CCE589ET) which only works for irq 11 I did tell pcmica not to use
some irqs. The scsi card did work without irq manipulation on an earlier
laptop.
