I was using some Adaptec 2940's and my servers would crash very
regularly.  I installed Buslogic PCI SCSI cards and I'm much happier
now (never crash, even under heavy load). I understand that Buslogic
encourages development of drivers for free operating systems, while
Adaptec is starting to make it hard for people to support Linux, BSD
etc.
