Hi !
After a lot of looking, I decided to send in this message on a much-discussed
topic ! I apologize if this is digging up old stuff but I am in need of help !

My 2940 times out when it tries to access my NEC CD-ROM 72 (old 1X, external).
I tried many things such as cable changes, changing the external to internal
etc. with no success. This drive was usable when I was using a 1542 (ISA).
The system config is

P100 PCI MBoard (4 PCI/4ISA) (supports NCR 810)
PCI slots use IRQ 10 and 11 (SCSI controller and VGA card)
3c509 (ISA) on IRQ 5
Seagate 2.1G SCSI drive

Linux v1.2.3 but I had to use a new boot disk to even get in, after I put in
the 2940.

I tried looking at the scsi archives but could not access any of the messages
only on that particular archive. Now I can access it but all the old messages
are gone !!!!!

Any help in this subject is appreciated - I can't make up my mind to go back to
a 1542 or switch to another card such Buslogic or NCR.
TIA
