Xcdroast uses cdrecord and mkisofs underneath the covers. So if cdrecord is
not working for you, xcdroast probably won't either. Xcdroast is a lot more
friendlier to use than the raw cdrecord/mkisofs is however -- it was fairly
obvious what to do from the splash screen, while my first attempt at using
cdrecord/mkisofs directly resulted in a coaster.
Given the CD writing HOWDO docs, I suspect if you have comparison errors, it
might be that your system couldn't deliver the data fast enough to the cd-r.
For what its worth, I just mastered and verified my first cd with no errors
(though given this is a very high end system, and I wasn't doing much else on
it, I would be surprised if there were errors).
