Sorry about this, but I sent in this question three weeks ago and promptly
stopped receiving any messages from this news group. (I finally started
receiving messages again yesterday???) So I need to ask it again.

I'm trying to run the demo program in the SCSI-Programming_HOWTO and always
get "Need read/write permissions for /dev/sgx" when the program tries to
open sgx.

I'm running Redhat 5.2, with two Tekram Symbios 875 based scsi cards
installed with now devices on either scsi bus.

ncr53c8xx is loaded a boot with no problems and I insmod sg.o then try
running the demo program.

Do I have to have a device connected to one of the scsi buses before its
device file (sga - sgh) is accessible.

Any suggestions, tips, helpful hints, would be greatly appreciated.

Tia!

John
