I recently purchased a Microtek X6 scanner hoping to use it with
Linux and SANE.
The scanner came with a funny little PCI SCSI card. The literature
claims it is an AVA 2902E/I (adaptec). It has no onboard BIOS. It
has no onboard jumpers. It has no internal cable connector. It
has a few chips and an external DB25, and that's about it :-)
Pretty minimal!
Linux (RH 5.1) does not recognize this card at boot time. I made
a half-hearted try at loading a couple of the std adaptec drivers
[root@musashi scsi]# insmod -v aha152x.o
aha152x.o: init_module: Device or resource busy
[root@musashi scsi]# insmod -v aha1740.o
aha1740.o: init_module: Device or resource busy
but I am really out of my depth when it comes to PCI hardware,
drivers, etc. I don't even know what the "busy" message means.
if anyone recognizes this oddball card, and knows which (if any)
driver will work with it, pls let me know. otherwise I will
try to find a scsi adapter cable (DB25 to mini-scsi2) and see
if I can support the scanner off my Tekram scsi card which
(bless it) "just works", PnP, the way I wish everything did :-)
