I have a combined problem with PPP connections and IDE-SCSI emulation -
here is my problem description:

[1.] PPP stalls when CDROM is active

[2.] I have 2 ATAPI CDROM drives installed in my computer, one 32 speed
regular drive and one 4 speed Yahama 4001t CDROM Writer. I use SCSI
emulation for both drives. When I either read (using dd) or write (usinged
cdrecord) from/to the Yahama CDWriter, my PPP connection to the Internet
stalls. Any existing connection over the PPP connections stops sending and
receiving data when I access the CDROM drive. As soon as I stop the CD
access, the network connection resumes. Everything seems affected
(udp/tcp).

- There is no such problem when i access my regular CDROM drive
(reader only).

- The local network does not seem to be affected although I can only check
the loopback address and my local ethernet address as I'm not connected to
any network right now.

- No errors occur reading or writing CD's - it simply just blocks the
network connections.

- The CPU is not exhausted - my rc5 client (can) crack away while burning.
