Bradley,

I recently purchased a Hewlett-Packard Surestore CD-Writer Plus 8100i.
It has successfully burned data and music disks at speed=2. (I have not
yet tried speed=4.)
CPU: Pentium 133MHz
Motherboard bus: Triton (66MHz)
Bus: PCI (3MHz) + Ultra Wide Scsi (80MHz)
Kernel: Linux-2.2.1
Recording Manager: cdrecord-1.6.1
Soundfile converter: sox-12.13
Soundfile editor: xwave-0.6-4
I have downloaded, but not yet installed xcdroast-0.96e.
So far, learning the software has been my stumbling block. I have
had no difficulties with the Surestore under linux. (I did have some
difficulty with the installation instructions, but there free tech support
was helpful. The instructions are provided as a video with midi under
Quicktime/Windows. I reported as a bug, that their installation turns off
midi before playing the instructions, so you get video but no sound. The
actual installation was so trivial that no instructions were necessary.)
Good luck,
