I use the following:
crw-r--r-- 1 root root 9, 128 Mar 19 1994 /dev/nrmt0
crw-r--r-- 1 root root 9, 0 Mar 19 1994 /dev/rmt0
rmt0 is the rewinding device, nrmt0 is the non-rewinding device.
(you may name them differently, of course)
It works fine with my Archive 2150S.
Of course you have to be careful when using the non-rewinding device,
to be at the right position when starting to write.
