Hi!
Luckily in Linux, one has the freedom to alter the way the
system dectects hardware; I myself have tried !three! Symbios
cards and hacking the files related to the Symbios drivers and
scsi-subsytem I was able to detect the cards in any order.
(Please, I do not recall the specific names on these files, nor will I
leave out misguiding guesses to them, but reply if You have problem
finding them and I will take the time and relocate them and supply
the (fairly simple *smile*) insrtuctions necessary to this list.)
Specs on my host adapters:
1. Symbios Logic 53C875 ((High Voltage) Differential)
2. Symbios Logic 53C810 (SE)
(These two falls in the same driver catagory: namley the 53c8xx which
works beautifully, thanks to all involved in this work!!)
3. Symbios logic 53C400 (This is an OLD ISA-legacy card which refused to
work on other irqs than 3, but nevertheless provided a stable interface to
my
ZIP+)
