I've saw this the other day :

sd08:01: sense key Hardware Error
Jan 12 20:30:43 burns kernel: Additional sense indicates Internal target
failure
Jan 12 20:30:43 burns kernel: scsidisk I/O error: dev 08:01, sector 2

This is with pre-7 and the disk is a IBM DRSV-09V.
