Yes, at least for the Zip Plus, the drives run the bus
in async mode.  When I put one on my bt958, the entire
boot process slowed to a crawl.  Never did boot the bugger
there.  I pulled an old aha2920 out of my closet and use
that now.  On the bright side, I can hot-swap the zip
drive now since it's the only device on that chain
(sync; sync; sync ; rmmod fdomain).  Adds to cool factor :)
