I am the recipient of an aged WangDAT 2600 drive that seems to work.
By seems, I mean, I have a "DDS-90" (90m, I guess?) tape that I can
successfully tar to and from. I practiced using my /home partitions
(2.0G) as something to try to backup and restore. So far it looks good,
but I only have teh one "test" tape.
I would like to buy some more tapes, but don't know what I should
buy. More of the DDS-90 tapes? What is the native capacity of this
drive? What about hardware compression? (I read somewhere that
WangDAT has it's own non-DDS-2 hardware compression.) Any help would be
appreciated...
