I don't know enough to determine if the following is indicative of a
disc dying or if it's just a bad spot on the disc. I can't seem to
generate errors on other places on the disc. Still, I don't want to
trust information to it if it's going to die...

(I was confused at first since I forgot that scsi error disc numbers are
1-based.)

EAT0: ihdlr, target 0.0:0, pid 34034, target_status 0x2, sense key 0x1/0x3
scsi0: MEDIUM ERROR on channel 0, id 0, lun 0, CDB: Read (6) 0c 40 d8 70 00
current error sd08:01: sense key Medium Error
Additional sense indicates Unrecovered read error
scsidisk I/O error: dev 08:01 sector 803056 absolute sector 803118

Thanks,
  Darren
