Hi all,

(This is basically a copy of a recent post I made to the list. Isn't it in
an archive? The on-board AIC thing has been quite a frequent question
lately!)

You need to patch to 2.0.35 then add the aic7xxx-5.1.0-2.0.35_patch
available from: ftp://ftp.dialnet.net/pub/linux/aic7xxx/

A tip for Slackware 3.5 users (and maybe others?): you can use the custom
SUSE Linux boot image also available at the above ftp site to boot up a
new system and then a Slackware root image disk of your choice. Install
from the CD and reboot with the SUSE disk then select the option to start
an installed system. Then apply the patches, recompile, lilo and ......
cross your fingers :)
