Hello All, Thank you all . The responses were great . :-)
In the end, 3 of the drives were totally toasted . Like
pop the top & watch this -really- fine grey dust fall out .
One of the drives had a control board failure so I swapped
that one for one of the others & viola . formatted up right
nicely & has completed some -very nasty- bonnie attacks w/o
failure . I have very good airflow across the drive &
electronics just to make definately sure. Although if this
particular Media was in the same sub-system as the others
I expect I'll only get a few months or so out of the drive.
