Hello Michele,
here are some hints for you (all self practiced in a bunch of different
machines) :
1) At first you should carefully reread the annotations regarding
LILO-Bootparams
for your hostadapter (best starting points are the docs, howtos &
drivers/scsi).
In your /etc/lilo.conf file, add the following line...
append="aha152x=<ioaddr>,<irq> e.g. append="aha152x=0x340,10"
On your first boot, you have to say: LILO boot: linux aha152x=0x340,10
Please note that this is an example for an I/O address / interrupt
combination.
Sometimes there is additionally a value for DMA channel required (depends on
the
ability of the SCSI chip to do data transfers via busmaster and / or polled
I/O).
Watch the syntax of the above expressions: Whilst you have to enclose the
append
parameter in " ", don't do so for LILO. Don't insert any spaces where not
required.
2) Be sure to have SCSI _support_ compiled into your kernel as well as the
designated
SCSI _driver_ for your hostadapter.
With the 2.0 kernels everything is fine when the driver is compiled into the
kernel,
and nothing works when you try to use it as a module.
3) Try to tell the bios that the desired irq (in this example: 11) is used by an
ISA
card (PNP/ISA setup).
4) Next step: actual kernel. Some versions below 2.0.33 have made troubles in
some
configuration.
5) Figure out in the source code how to set the needed variables to the desired
values
and compile a new kernel with this static adjustments. This was the last
chance once
i've got really in trouble with a weird configuration.
Regards
Joerg

Hi all,
i'm having trouble with the AHA 1542cf card that do not have the dip
siwthces for setup irq.I can choose the io address and then when ths
sytem go up th eirq is autodetectd...BAD.Yes it detect the irq 15 that
is used buy the ide second channel and so the system says impossible toi
use or somthing else that irq.I found on the source that the system
accept parmaters via append of the lilo, but uit doesnt'accept the IRQ,
it accept the ioaddress, and after tin the source i found that it can
search itself the right IRQ, 15,14,12,11,9. Ineed to setup it manually,
to the 9th, but it is possible to do?? where i have to setup it , i
suppose via lilo, but no info are provided about the irq...please i need info.
THANKS
