Does anyone know if the grown list is really read properly? I don't think
I've ever seen scsi-config report anything in the grown list. Just
recently, I was setting up some Micropolis 1991's and 3 were "bad". 1
could not be formatted without lots of errors locking up the system. 2
were formattable but generated unrecoverable read errors when tested. I
checked with scsi-config, and of course AWRE and ARRE were off. I turned
them on for all the disks, and 1 of the ones with read errors "got
better". The other 2 bad ones were apparently beyond help. On the one
that got better, I was able to run badblocks several times in write mode
with no errors, but I don't think anything ever showed up in the grown
list.
