We have a brand new Dell 2300 PowerEdge server that we want to run linux
on. I know the aic7xxx driver is in developement stages and has been said
to work with Ultra2 cards that have only Ultra2 devices on them. However
I seem to be having problems. We have 2 Seagate 9 gig Barracuda drives
(ST39173LC) and a 1x6 Dell Backplane. all say they are ultra2 in the scsi
bios detection. However the boot will hang. It works fine when the
blackplane is unplugged, but we have no way to plug the drives in without
the backplane, so im not sure if thats the problem. If anyone else is
using this server or has any thoughts i would greatly appreciate hearing
from you.
Thanks in advance.
Randy
