Hi,
I'm just wondering if anyone has got linux running on a Compaq Proliant 2000
5/66 server. We've been trying to install Redhat Linux v5.0 without success.
The installer doesn't seem to recognise the built-in fast SCSI controller
(the "Compaq Integrated 32-bit Fast SCSI-2 Controller"). I believe that the
controller is based on the NCR53c710 chip (at least Win95 was using the
ncrc710.mpd driver), and there is also a built-in Compaq intelligent array
controller to make things messier. We tried selecting the NCR710-series
drivers during installation but the adapter was not detected. If we select
5380 however linux will proceed to scan the SCSI bus but get stuck there.
The SCSI-HowTo document mentioned that the NCR53x8xx driver currently will
not work with 53c710 chips - I wonder if this is still the case. Any help
will be appreciated.
Thanks,
Damian
