Should have paid more attention to the lights. I noticed earlier today
that the parity error light was on...so like Dario said...the problem was
bogus memory.

Closer inspection of the RAM we bought confirmed my suspicion...those
little chips in the center of each simm (covered by a 16mb label) were
logic parity generators...not parity chips. This sort of pisses me off
since we specified "true parity" and bought from a memory vendor we use
frequently (and host a web site for). I scrounged up 1 4x36-60 that just
barely fits (parity chips are on the back of the simm, and one rests
against a surface mounted chip on the DPT), and it seems to be working
fine now.

I've tossed around a few GB of files, and no errors yet. Is the eata..o
driver the recommended one? Now, to pump up the bus speed to ultra-scsi
speed and see if I can get reasonable performance. So far, I've been
running 5mhz.
