Solved adaptec 2940 booting problem

Hi,
There seems to be two different versions of the adaptec 2940. :-(
I swapped my controller with that of a friend (who is using NT :-( ).
On the one I now have there is a little chip located in the right lower
corner, this is the only difference. If this chip is present is seems to be
a (bus)master (Linux works) , if the chip is absent its a slave (Linux
doesn't work).
In windows there seems no problem when your not using boot disks.
When I bought my computer win95 was preinstalled so I didn't notice it was
not a master controller.
