SCSI errors when use XMCD

This happens on a new CDROM drive I got:

When I play audio CDs with XMCD, I get:

   CD audio: SCSI command error on /dev/scd0:
   Opcode=0x42 Status=0x1 Msg=0x0 Host=0x0 Driver=0x28
   Key=0x5 Code=0x24 Qual=0x0
   CD audio: SCSI command error on /dev/scd0:
   Opcode=0x42 Status=0x1 Msg=0x0 Host=0x0 Driver=0x28
   Key=0x5 Code=0x24 Qual=0x0
   CD audio: SCSI command error on /dev/scd0:

forever...

Any thoughts?  The music plays fine, but thar be errors!
