Hallo!

I am using an adaptec 2940uw with a Quantum UW and a Samsung U Harddrive (I
don't know the exact types right now). There is a Plextor CDreader and a
n Exabyte Tape drive on the same bus too. The Quantum made Problems with
"queue full" messages until I updated the drive firmware.
Since then I have very little problems with this setup using kernel
2.0.29,2.0.32 and 2.0.33.
Usual load (even bonnie benchmark and "du /" or "find / ...") wont produce
errors. A week ago I wanted to shift the partitions, but hadn't one
single partition to store the data in between that was large enough. so I
tried to use a kind of raid -- linear append, but I hadn't compiled that
in the kernel. I tried to define a raid0 (striping) with two partitions on
the same drive(silly, but it gave me the space I wanted).
The copy worked ok, but on verifying the data I got an scsi hang with an
interrupt loop, so I won't use that again...
With raid0 on different drives I had no problems till now.
I use disconnect on all devices and use tagged queing.

have a nice day,

Karl-Heinz
