Your BIOS of the Motherboards needs Support for the NCR because

All newer Motherboards do have this Extension for NCR support.

Have a look in the leaflet which came with your Motherboard.

The AHA2940 comes with its own BIOS. So I do not expect any problems

much more expensive.

If your Motherboard is from Intel (Plato) or Asus then I know
of newer Flash BIOS upgrades which do have NCR support
